According to the map of Nepal Birgunj is the Head Querter of the District of Parsa. Which is located in the Narayani Zone Of central Development Region in Nepal.
It is one of the ancient cities of Nepal. Which gets an example of the kings of sen Dyhasty, Alou Fort and Simraungadh. Simraungadh which has historical vachies is located in the district of Bara. After the origin of shah dynasty prime minister Bir Shamsher added some village to the city and thos it got its name as Birgnj. From the Rana regime till 2018|19 B.S. are the administrative functions from Malangwa to Kaligandhaki were handled from Birgunj Gahawamai Temple in Birgunj in an approval of it which was set up by Bir shamsher. If we see the hisroty we may find that are the imports and exports were condicted from Birgunj not only from India but also from other nations so, Today it is famous as Gateway to Nepal. Birgunj in famous for its religions and cultural sites like Gahawamai, Mahavir temple, Alkhiyamath, Birtamai, Baudhimai, Satyanarayan temple, Geetamandir, Durga mandir, Bhutandevi mandir, Bhishwa which have helped to make its own beauty Bitgunj city has made remarkable progress in the field of education for the first time establishment of Trijudha High School and Thakuram multiple campus show the city of Birgunj was famous in the past centuries regading with education. So it is called as an education hub in the Terai region.
First people's movement for Democracy in 2007 B.S. was also started from Birgunj. It is the birthplace of famous martyrs Thirbum Malla, TejBahadur Amatya, hirayana shumsher, Suwarn Shamsher, Pashupati ghosh, Meghraj Upadhayaya etc.
